At km 62 (in Wielsbeke) Johan Vansummeren (BEL/Garmin-Sharp) hits a spectator at high speed after a roundabout. The elderly women is severely hurt and brought to hospital in critical condition. Johan is also taken to hospital for a head injury, but is released later that night.
