Already after 20km into the race Michael Morkov (DEN/Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) couldn't keep the pace of the peloton and was dropped due to not coping well with the extreme heat (up to 39°C).
He would eventually finish more than an hour after the first riders and thus didn't make the time cut.
